Agricultural practice in India has been carried out since thousands of years. But, in the recent times for the better yield of crops, pesticides are extensively utilized. Endosulfan is an organochlorine pesticide which is extensively used by the farmers of India for the yield of crops. The recent health hazards caused in Kerala has attracted the researchers to evaluate its health impact. Unfortunately, the cardiovascular diseases have become a major problem in the population and there are speculations related to its cause due to the pesticide toxic effects.

Hence, the present research work aims to observe the ameliorative effect of Emblica officinalis against Endosulfan induced cardiotoxicity at cellular and subcellular levels in Swiss albino mice.

Endosulfan at the dose of 3 mg/Kg body weight per day was administered orally to Swiss albino mice for 4 weeks. Then after, Emblica officinalis at the dose of 100 mg/Kg b.w was orally administered for 4 weeks. Mice were sacrificed after the completion of the entire treatment. After dissection the tissue samples were collected and fixed in their respective fixatives for light microscopic study as well as for Electron microscopic study. The study shows deleterious effect of Endosulfan at cellular and subcellular levels. But, after administration of Emblica officinalis there was significant normalisation in the cardiomycytes at the cellular as well as cellular levels. Therefore, from the entire study, it can be concluded that Emblica officinalis plays the vital role to control the endosulfan induced cardio-toxicity at cellular as well as sub-cellular levels.
