The Sexual Dimorphism with Emphasis to the Gluteal Muscle Differences

Nickos Poulianos, George Ebralidze

Due to the sexual dimorphism, there are obvious differences in appearance between males and females. In the simians (small monkeys) it is less pronounced - almost absent. During the course of biosocial evolution in greater - the so called anthropomorphic -apes (orangutan, chimpanzee and gorilla) this dimorphism became more accentuated. In our own species the tendency is to return to earlier times, but differences are still evident, especially in sports performance, injury incidence and location. Thus the recent greater exposure of women to high-level sports has produced an increase in the absolute numbers of injuries in women.
